A cute Italian deli, perfect for a quick lunch or for something to take away.
As if the name wasn’t enough of a give away, Il Tartfuo is an Italian deli, opened and operated by an Italian couple since 2000. The walls are stocked with Italian olive oils, vinegars and wines while the deli counter is filled with meats, cheese and prepared foods.
From the counter, you can get a variety of sandwiches as well as prepared foods, including warm and cold pasta dishes. For a take away, those are perfect. If you’re dining in, get yourself one of their delicious paninis. They generally have a sandwich of the day, if you want to try something different, but the Il Tartufo is always good. You can follow it up with one of their homemade desserts.
Most of the items that aren’t prepared in house are prepared by small, craft producers in Italy. The prepared food is good but also be sure to check out the grocery items they have. There’s lots of hard to find things tucked into the shelves.
As it’s half deli, half grocery store, there is less attention paid to the decor and more to how many products can fit on the shelves. The seating is informal and, during a busy lunch, you’ll be jostled by people ordering from the counter or trying to reach a bag of pasta behind you. If the weather is nice, you can get a table outside.
You have to order from the counter and the server will bring your food to the table. It’s not overly friendly but very efficient.
There’s no specific English menu but most of the menu is in Italian to begin with. They do a wide range of catering, from personal meals at home to large events.
A sandwich and a drink will run around 10 euros.
