A true local spot, De Beierd is located in the middle of the city center in an unassuming space that’s great for a cheap, cozy meal or something a bit more special.
The cuinse is Dutch and the stand out feature of their menu is their daily dishes, ranging in price from €8 to €15. They also offer a standard menu but also include cheese fondue.
The best thing to order is one of the daily specials. There are five at different price points, including a vegetarian dish. Don’t get the fondue. It’s mediocre at best and far inferior to many of the other delicious items on the menu. If you want an appetizer, the borrelplank is the best choice.
It has a very brown cafe vibe, typical of many small Dutch restaurants. Not a place for a fancy meal, but it has a homey, cozy atmosphere.
Typical Dutch; be prepared to flag down your server for anything you need.
There’s no English-language menu available and the English-language skills of the staff aren’t especially high, but the servers are friendly and will work with you. It’s definitely not a restaurant that gets a lot of tourist traffic. The beer list is pretty good as well.
Prices vary. You can get a meal for €10 on the low end or €30 on the more expensive end.
